NBA Live: Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors responded when asked about being sent off against the Sacramento Kings for a stamp on Domantas Sabonis, “I need to land my foot somewhere.”
In the fourth quarter of Monday night’s playoff game, which the Kings won 114-106 to take a 2-0 series lead, Green stepped on Sabonis’ chest after the player wrapped his arms around Green’s calf.
Green received a flagrant foul and was immediately dismissed, and Sabonis received a technical foul.
Green told the media, “My leg got grabbed. In Game 1, Green claims Malik Monk grabbed his leg in front of the office for the second time in two nights.
“I have to place my foot somewhere, and since I’m not particularly flexible, it’s not going very far. It is what it is since I can only move so far before having to pull my leg back.
When asked what the officials had said, Green replied, “The reasoning was I stomped too hard.” Either you’re going to stop it because it was Monk’s final game…
“I believe ankle grabbing is alright,” Jon Goble said. “Since Zach (Zarba) was obviously watching my leg get held this game and let it go while Jon Goble was plainly watching Monk grip my leg the last game.”
Sabonis started to TNT: “Both of us are vying for the rebound. We tripped over each other. Things happen. It is basketball. We must proceed to the following play.”
Green was the target of insulting shouts from Sacramento fans. Green encouraged them by encouraging louder cheers while standing on a chair, flailing his hands, and holding one hand to his ear.
Green received too many flagrant fouls in the playoffs of the previous season, which led to his ejection from a playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies and a one-game suspension during the NBA Finals.
In 147 career postseason games, the 33-year-old has accrued 27 technical fouls and six egregious fouls.
