NBA News: Legends of the game sat down with analyst Mo Mooncey before of the NBA Paris Game between the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls to share their thoughts. Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons, Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls, and Mickael Pietrus, a former international for France, shared the hot seat.
The all-time leader in the regular season and playoff blocks, Wallace was a defensive mainstay for the Pistons during their heyday. He now serves as the basketball operations and team engagement advisor for his organisation.
He spoke extensively about the youth set-up within the current team and how this can assist the franchise in the seasons when he sat down with Sky Sports’ Mooncey on Wednesday.
The future is really promising, he declared. “The youth players will have a tremendous presence in the league if we can keep them fit and together for a couple of years.”
When questioned about the capabilities and contributions of the 19-year-old, he specifically noted Jalen Duren’s potential.
“I don’t believe he realises his potential as a basketball player, which may lead to him being an All-Star in five to six years. When he realises how terrific he really is, he’ll show us a lot more of his work ethic, tiny gestures, and the way he sweeps the floor.”
The legendary Bulls player Noah also spoke about his team’s standing and how great it would be for them to visit Paris again considering the franchise’s history there thanks to Michael Jordan’s legendary achievements.
Since the Bulls vs. Warriors game in 1997 was the first game I ever watched, he remarked, “It’s incredibly special for people in Europe to experience the finest level of basketball, and special for me too.”
Noah also mentioned the skill of the French players who were recently added to the league and how the high-scoring games we were seeing on a regular basis were just a result of the players getting better and better.
Pietrus, who shared the court with some of the best European prospects ever, had more knowledge on the subject.
When he first began playing, “basketball culture wasn’t big,” he added. “My generation, Tony Parker, and the others at the time are to blame for it becoming thus.”
He recognises Victor Wembanyama, the next and likely top draught choice, as possessing the same excellence.
“If he stays healthy, he’ll be fantastic; he’ll be the next Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He can run and move the ball despite being so tall.”
Pietrus was subsequently questioned by Mooncey about who he believed would win the inaugural championship title—the Bulls or the Pistons.
