IPL 2023: In the IPL 2023 championship game, Mohit Sharma grabbed three wickets and gave up 36 runs in three overs.
In the final match of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to win the title for the fifth time.
The game came down to the final ball, with Chennai winning by one run on the final ball as they entered to chase a revised DLS goal of 171 runs in 15 overs. In the game’s final over, the ball was given to Indian bowler Mohit Sharma.
Mohita bowled three pinpoint yorkers and stopped the hitters, giving Chennai the 13 runs they needed to win the game in the last over. He let up 10 runs off the next two balls, though, as Jadeja smashed him for back-to-back boundaries to give Chennai the victory.
Mohit Sharma was depressed following the painful defeat, and he recently spoke forth about how he felt after the summit match ended in defeat.
“I was unable to sleep. Sochta raha kya alag karta joh match jeet jaate. What if I had the option to bowl this or that ball? Now, I don’t feel good. I’m trying to move on, but maybe something is missing,” Mohit Sharma told Indian Express.
What I intended to achieve was pretty clear in my mind: Mohit Sharma
Mohit also discussed his strategy prior to bowling the last over. In his opinion, he was trusting his instincts in the final since he had experienced such scenarios in net practice.
“What I intended to achieve was pretty obvious in my thoughts. I had practised these scenarios in the nets, and I had also encountered them in the past. I decided to trust my gut and said, Let me bowl all balls yorkers,” said Mohit.
He did bowl really well during the game, but it was ultimately insufficient as Gujarat suffered a crushing five-wicket loss.
