T20 Cricket: The T20I format of cricket has been a fan favourite ever since it was introduced. The format provides everything fans need to remain enthralled, from the magnificent hitting to the wonderful spells. There is validity in the claim that the format has altered greatly over time, though.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of both the India and Mumbai Indians, agreed. The 36-year-old recently participated in an interview, during which he disclosed that the T20 format has undergone substantial changes.
Rohit also considered how, although not the greatest at everything, he had been trying his best to keep up with the changing demands of the sport. He had also not shied away from doing things a little differently.
“In my opinion, there is no longer a need for an anchor. Unless you are 20 for 3 or 4, which is not going to happen every day, you will occasionally be in that situation. At that point, someone needs to anchor the innings and finish off to a good score. This is just the way T20 cricket is played these days. But now that males are acting differently, there is no longer a need for an anchor,” according to Rohit Sharma in an interview with JioCinema.
You will be destroyed if you don’t adjust your thinking, says Sharma.
The seasoned Indian hitter also discussed the significance of the mental adjustment required by the T20 format. In his opinion, if one does not alter their thinking in this day and age, they should be shattered.
“People on the other side are thinking about the game differently and pushing it to the next level. If you do not adjust your perspective, you are going to get destroyed. All seven batters must fulfil their respective roles; in my opinion, scoring well is excellent, but so is scoring well off merely 10-15 or 20 balls, as long as you are doing your part in the team’s strategy,” Rohit stated that the game has altered.
