Freiburg now has 41 points, making them rank eight on the table.
They are just one less than Wolfsburg, which is sixth, and Hoffenheim, which is seventh.
Meanwhile, while Borussia is fourth with 56 points, with the same number of points as Bayer Leverkusen in fifth place.
RB Leipzig is third with 58 points. Bayern is leading with 67 points, seven more than Borussia Dortmund (in second place with 60).
A goal worth three points for Freiburg was scored by Nils Petersen in the 58th minute.
