Amazon Prime will make the four free-to-air Premier League games when the season returns. In other words, 33 of the League matches will be free-to-air.
Alex Green, Prime Video Sport Europe’s managing director, said to BBC: “Like in the rest of the world, we are delighted to see the Premier League coming back to life.”
When the “top-flight” competition starts from 17 June, fans do not require a Prime membership to watch games on the online streaming service:
“We’ll make all four of the extra fixtures from Amazon Prime Video accessible for free throughout the 2019-20 season; viewers won’t require a Prime membership to watch the games on Prime Video.”
All of the remaining 92 games, other than the 33 free ones, in the Premier League will be live streamed by Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport or Amazon Prime.
Sky Sports itself will free-to-air 25 of the remaining top-flight games, including the Merseyside derby on the first weekend of the resumption-19-21 June.
Also, this would be the first time the BBC displays live Premier League matches, and the first time since 1988 that the network has shown any live top-flight games.
