Arsenal allegedly made contact with Lyon striker Moussa Dembele’s inner circle over a possible move for the striker in the summer.
According to L’Equipe, Mikel Arteta’s side was in contact with representatives of the player about a possible transfer, but Dembele’s price tag could theoretically thwart a contract. The report suggests Lyon is holding out for the 23-year-old for a £60 m fee.
During the 2019-20 campaign, Dembele netted 22 times in all Lyon competitions, with top-flight football in France coming to a close early after the current outbreak.
After a promising campaign with the French outfit, the 23-year-old has been linked to a number of top European clubs, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all credited with interest in Dembele.
Moreover, Arsenal has turned its attention to swap deals and signing free agents despite the financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
Finally, the Gunners are supposed to have made known their interest in Dembele in the midst of uncertainty regarding the future of Aubameyang. Arsenal could be forced to sell club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer if the Gabon International disagrees with the terms of a new contract.
