On Sunday, Barcelona and Juventus reached a verbal agreement for a move that brings Miralem Pjanic and Mattia De Sciglio to Camp Nou and will send Nelson Semedo to Turin, in return.
De Sciglio began his career in Milan and moved to Juve for 8.5 million euros three years ago. He’s played 39 games for Italy and had an odd season in La Liga due to injuries and form playing only eight times.
Pjanic, 30 years old, will join Barca too. He moved from Roma to Juve, for €35 million. He’s in the final stage of his career and Sarri at Juve didn’t like him much.
The market value of Semedo, on the other hand, is 50 million euros. The 27-year-old has done well in the past three seasons at Barca but hasn’t nailed his slot ahead of Sergi Roberto.
The player trade will see Juventus handing out 25 million euros to the Catalans for Semedo. Despite Semedo being their highest value player, Barcelona cannot expect more in this time of a global crisis (due to the coronavirus pandemic). Barcelona itself will likely spend the 25 million received on Lautaro Martinez.
Semedo and Juve are at work on their deal at these moments. Barca has already concluded contracts with Pjanic and De Sciglio and it leaves the Portuguese only to sort his personal plan out.
However, the players will move only after all the competitions are wrapped up. The Champions League could go on through August. Semedo would play for Juve and Pjanic and De Sciglio for Barca, given that the Champions League is played in September.
After that, but before the new season, these three and all other players would transfer.
Per sources of Catalan paper Sport, about the deal, Semedo likes the idea, and will negotiate. His agent Jorge Mendes already has the basis for a deal ready.
