In an attempt to improve their financial status, Barcelona is reportedly keen to finalize as many player transfers away from the club as possible by June 30.
The club’s latest strategy, according to ESPN, is to unload some members of their squad before June 30, the date on which Spain’s financial year reaches its end. This is to relieve the club of its undue financial strain due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Club officials are likely to prioritize Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele’s revenues, although the pair do not receive the same payments that have been paid in the past for their respective signatures.
Also, Nelson Semedo, Junior Firpo, Jean-Clair Todibo, Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal were tipped to exit the La Liga leaders in the coming months.
Barcelona originally had high hopes of making new additions during the next transfer window.
However, it is said that the Catalan giants have lost more than £ 100 m due to the unexpected coronavirus pandemic.
So, far from buying star players aplenty, Barcelona will have to cut its losses by selling many of their own valuable players instead.
Barcelona will thus have to secure many departures to improve their chances of signing just Lautaro Martinez and Miralem Pjanic.
