According to BBC, six positive coronavirus tests were conducted on Sunday and Monday across three Premier League clubs, as the top flight prepares to resume in June.
Since 13 March, the Premier League has been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with 92 fixtures still remaining.
Previously, the league had identified 12 June for matches to possibly start again, but now there is expectation that this will need to be pushed back.
Nevertheless, Premier League squads began non-contact training from Tuesday.
So far, 748 players and staff from 19 clubs have been tested in total. The rest of the club did their tests on Tuesday itself, so they’ll be included in the results on Saturday.
The unnamed players or staff who tested positive will now isolate themselves for seven days.
“The Premier League provides this aggregated information for the integrity and transparency of the competition. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the league and results will be made public in this way after each round of testing,” the league said in a statement.
