According to reports, if Istanbul isn’t suitable for the Champions League Final, Lisbon, Munich, Frankfurt and Geneva are alternative options.
There are a few different options: the Associated Press and Calcio e Finanza point to Lisbon, Munich and Geneva, while Frankfurt is added to the candidates by German newspaper Bild.
The Champions League and the Europa League will now be played in August, and potentially in one country only, as a Final Eight or Final Four contest format to minimize travel.
During the next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee on 17 June a decision regarding the venue for these matches is expected.
Istanbul was supposed to host the Final before the coronavirus pandemic swept across Europe forcing a suspension of the whole tournament.
