According to The Athletic, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard remains keen to seek and strike a deal with Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz ahead of next season.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a successful campaign in Leverkusen, contributing nine goals and seven assists from 30 outings in the Bundesliga and Europe. While Germany’s international would have cost £90 m in the region, its age and potential that encourage Chelsea to pursue their interest in Havertz.
Thus, Chelsea could be able to prioritize Havertz’s approach during the next transfer window.
Until now, The Blues have been closely linked to Philippe Coutinho, who will be allowed to leave Barcelona later in 2020 and will be open to a return to the Premier League. However, Hakim Ziyech is already expected to arrive at the Stamford Bridge, making it doubtful that the West Londoners will be looking to sign both Havertz and Coutinho.
