Kadidiatou Diani, a Paris Saint-German striker, has signed a new contract with the club, making her one of the top paying female players after only 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg.
Diani’s re-signing isn’t the only major contract PSG has done. It has also signed Nadia Nadim to an agreement that will hold her with the team until 2021.
The striker had also been in negotiations with Jean-Michel Aulas from Lyon, who was trying to introduce Diani to the club to feature in the attack alongside Hegerberg.
On Monday, the 25-year-old player signed a new three-year contract pledging her future to PSG thus refusing an offer to join rivals Lyon. Diani, in re-signing to PSG, turned down Lyon, which matched PSG’s wage bid of €30,000 (£26,000/$33,000) a month.
Diani’s decision was based on her desire to stay in Paris, although PSG sports director Leonardo directly called on her to convince her to sign an extension.
With the contract, Diani will now earn an annual salary of €360,000 (£308,000/$393,000) a season at the same amount as French team-mate Amandine Henry.
Diani was a part of two World Cup teams as well as France’s team for Olympics 2016 and Euros 2017.
