Former Indiana University football player Chris Beaty was shot and killed in Indianapolis. He was the victim of violence taking place due to the riots caused by the brutal and senseless murder of George Floyd at the knees of a white police officer.
According to reports, Beaty suffered multiple gun shot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Th deceased player was shot in downtown Indianapolis.
Protests and violence have taken place in the downtown area of Indianapolis for the past three nights to protest police brutality in the wake of Floyd’s death in police custody, but it’s not clear if any of the shootings were directly tied to those actions.
The sporting world is in shock in what has been a trying time for the community as the pandemic has rendered several sporting events unable to operate.
The former player has become a businessman since his graduation and ran several nightclubs in the area and opened his own events promotion company, Fresh Marketing, in 2011.
Many of his former team mates and other colleagues posted their tributes for him on social media after news spread.
