According to The Evening Standard, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side Manchester United is keeping a close eye on Kai Havertz’s developments, with Havertz shaping up to be an appealing alternative to the United’s rumoured first choice- Jadon Sancho
Sancho is said to be the number one goal of Solskjaer going into the summer transfer window, although the financial consequences of the coronavirus outbreak could delay United plans to sign the Borussia Dortmund forward.
Indeed, Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward acknowledged that large-money movements are unlikely to take place in the aftermath of the pandemic, suggesting that the Red Devils will have to try alternatives to the $100 m Sancho valued.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, it now appears, may replace Sancho in joining the United for the coming season. The Germany International has recorded six goals and five assists in the 22 appearances of the Bundesliga and is under contract at Leverkusen until 2022.
However, there’s a catch here, too. Given the current crisis, Leverkusen is not budging on their rates. The report argues that the Bundesliga outfit plans to stand firm on its £90 m valuation of the 20-year-old, who has also been linked to Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks.
