Inter Milan is currently in frequent contact with Manchester United regarding the possibility of retaining Alexis Sanchez for next season.
Since August, the striker has been on loan at the San Siro and is supposed to sign a short-term extension to finish the remaining matches for Inter.notes, however, that Inter is involved in continuing Sanchez’s loan until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
United pays a large proportion of his £400,000-per-week salary, and will probably want that figure to be reduced if they allow Sanchez to play for another year elsewhere.
Probably securing some sort of transfer fee for the 31-year-old seems out of the question and Sanchez won’t give up easily on his extortionate pay.
This summer, Sanchez looked to be approaching a return to Old Trafford and such a scenario seemed highly probable.
What’s more, he has hardly set the world back in Italy, scoring in an injury-hampered season, once in 16 appearances.
Despite all this, Inter clearly appreciates his contribution and still believes he can play a crucial role at the club. They are exploring all possibilities to retain his services.
Piero Ausilio, sporting director of Inter, said last month: “We want to keep everybody here, including Alexis Sanchez. We’re relying on him in the coming months.”
