The Italian giants are after an experienced player. The Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic has packages. It is not too much of a leap, then, to say that AC Milan is in the race for Rakitic in Barcelona.
Rakitic has lost his place at the side of Ernesto Valverde, suffering because of the midfield competition. He leaves Camp Nou in January.
Milan is after a midfielder with experience, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport. Rakitic fits the profile perfectly. Currently, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong and Arthur Melo play regularly, while Arturo Vidal and Carles Aleña, as well as B teamer Riqui Puig, are also options.
Signing Rakitic is a realistic option. He’s an experienced player, proven quality, is relatively affordable and this winger is open to anything both the player and his club.
“I don’t like being very active in the transfer market in January but sometimes it’s necessary,” said Ivan Gazidis, Milan’s executive. “And like we did with (Gonzalo) Higuain we can also invest in experienced players.”
However, there’s interest from a different place. Inter also showed a desire to land the man from Seville, while Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester United were also all connected.
