Joao Felix states the players at Atletico Madrid are getting ready to go. They will be at their top form whenever La Liga receives the green light to restart again.
He is confident about their play after detailing their training in the past two months of lockdown as well as their slow return to normal practice as before. “At home we trained hard to guarantee we didn’t lose our strength so it was quick to get back to performing cardio work,” Felix told the official website of the club. “We are already beginning to practice with the ball again, so we’re trying to do it every day so we can get back to usual.”
He added, “I missed playing and scoring goals against my team-mates.”
Clubs in the Spanish top flight have already resorted to community preparation with up to 10 people, as La Liga looks to adopt the Bundesliga model of adjusting to action.
League president Javier Tebas is looking for a return to match action on June 12th, but Felix says that if there was an alternative, Atletico would play immediately:
“We’d be back this weekend if it was up to us but we’ll have to wait and work hard so we can get off to a strong start. We feel pretty good and are very happy playing again.”
