Juventus could reportedly cancel Gonzalo Higuain’s contract in the months ahead.
Most players’ contracts and transfers have been revised due to the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, much could depend on an Italian Football Association announcement regarding a potential restart for Serie A.
Many players have travelled back to their homelands during the crisis and this has resulted in friction in finalizing their positions for coming seasons. Unavailability, distance, and scope for miscommunication are the primary reasons. One such player is Lautaro Martinez. Another is Higuain.
Higuain travelled back to Argentina to be with his ill mother before restrictions were placed on flights due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite trying to make contact with the forward, Tuttosport claims that the 32-year-old has yet to reach back to Juventus.
Though Higuain has a contract until the end of next season, it is said that Juventus will be open to offers ahead of the next transfer window. The report thus suggests the Serie A leaders are now considering their options, one of which includes ending the club deal with Higuain.
