Manchester United decided to support the wishes of Chris Smalling to stay in Roma and lowered their offer price on him to €18 m.
Roma found the original €25 m price tag for the player to be unfair.
The Old Trafford side is now able to reduce the selling price to €18-20 m according to Il Tempo newspaper.
That would give the Giallorossi more chances to sign a long-term contract on Smalling.
The 30-year-old’s deal with Manchester United extends until June 2022. Multiple sources have stated that in Serie A, England International is pleased and wants to make the loan spell permanent.
He has made 28 competitive appearances this season for Roma, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
