Inter Milan is having trouble raising players’ salaries this season due to the business being hit by the coronavirus pandemic. So, Barcelona is said to have been given a boost in their efforts to sign Inter forward Lautaro Martinez.
The Catalan giants have named the Argentine, who has a release clause in the area of £96 m, as a long-term substitute for Luis Suarez. Given the financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, however, this figure may prove to be a major stumbling block.
However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the report argues that Inter is unable to supply € 10 m (£ 8.76 m) to Martinez on a seasonal basis. Therefore, with the frontman only having three years left on his contract, Inter won’t feel compelled to cash in on one of his most valuable assets.
Barcelona is therefore in a stronger position to give the 22-year-old a salary raise.
