Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez has made it known that he and his teammates are not far from full fitness until the start of LaLiga Santander on 11 June.
“We are preparing very well,” Nacho told Movistar (via Marca). “These are different weeks, with a strange preparation because you’re not with all your teammates. The team is working very well, is very confident and we are going to arrive in good condition.”
Currently, Barcelona leads LaLiga Santander by two points, but Nacho is confident that Real Madrid can overthrow that deficit:
“The league will be won by whoever best adapts to this situation, it will be all very different.
“We’re only two points behind. We’d love to be on top, as we were before the last league game, but two points is nothing.
“Our mission is to win all points [possible] to make it difficult for Barcelona, but we have to go game by game, adapting to this different situation.”
Real Madrid will be able to welcome Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard back ahead of this final stretch, with the former recovering from a serious knee injury last summer while the latter recovered following surgery to the ankle.
“They have been out of action for a long time due to their injuries, but they seem well, strong and very motivated,” Nacho explained. “Now when LaLiga starts, it will be the coach who has to decide, but they look confident to me. They are here to come back and help the team.”
Los Blancos won’t get back on track until 14 June, when they host Eibar. “There are a few days before we start, we want to get to 100 percent,” Nacho said. “Now we are at 95 percent and rising.”
