Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan regrets leaving Roma and feels that he might still have had his say with Inter. “I have let pride get the best of me,” he states when asked what went wrong.
The Belgian left Roma after a clash with the then Director of Sports Monchi, but only lasted one season in San Siro before he was frozen.
He met Luciano Spalletti at Inter, but things changed when Antonio Conte took over. Nainggolan in his Instagram Live chat with tennis champion Fabio Fognini said, “I went to Inter with a coach who really wanted me there. I arrived with so much enthusiasm, then I got injured and had some problems. Looking at the statistics, I can be satisfied, even if I can do better. It wasn’t the best of Nainggolan at Inter.
“I did still hope to be given another chance, but that didn’t happen. It’s a decision I have to accept. I have another two years on my contract with Inter, we’ll see what happens, as so much has changed at the club.
“I still believe that I can have my say at Inter. I never had any problems in the dressing room, despite what’s reported.”
About Rome he nostalgically said, “I left my heart in Rome, as that was a unique experience.”
