Bild writer Christian Falk reports that Ralf Rangnick is studying Italian. Rangnick, current head of international relations and scouting Red Bull confirmed that he was in talks with Milan, much to the chagrin of director Paolo Maldini and coach Stefano Pioli.
“During the coronavirus emergency, the talks were suspended but the contact with Milan was really intense before that and has recently started to hot up again”, Falk told for MilanNews.it.
“For a very long time Rangnick knew Ivan Gazidis, so their discussions were very frank. Rangnick’s already contacted others within the club to discuss his ideas, according to my information. I can imagine the next few weeks will see a deal reached. What is very clear is that, within the club, Rangnick wants to maintain immense influence. That explains the recent reaction from Paolo Maldini, as he can see that this arrival would limit his powers,” Falk said.
He has agreed basic conditions for taking over in Milan, and will make extensive club changes:
”Rangnick doesn’t just want to lead training or select line-ups, but takes decisions about transfers and especially the scouting industry. In the medical sector the German is also very well versed. I could also see him bringing in a team psychologist.”
