Real Madrid is set to lose €160 m by playing football behind closed doors, a figure that represents one-fifth of the revenue streams of the club.
AS Diario Sport has outlined, the annual budget for Madrid is around the €800 m mark. This means that 20 percent of their entire budget is lost.
For the 2020/21 campaign, Zinedine Zidane’s squad will have 37 players on their books in their first-team squad once players have returned from loan spells.
It’s said James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale are top of the list of players the club is desperate to sell this summer because of their high wage packages and them not being involved in Zidane’s planning.
These outgoing transfers will be their top priority, before any new signings are added.
The economic situation is likely to have an impact this summer on any planned revenue in Madrid. The report goes on to say that, subsequently, Los Blancos will have to reduce their outgoings even more than they originally planned.
