Joseph Bouasse Perfection, a former academy player, has died after a heart attack at the tender age of 21.
The young player arrived in Rome in 2015 from his native Cameroon, when he was abandoned by a human trafficker.
Until signing for Roma, he started out for Liberi Nantes where he was loaned out of Vicenza in Serie B.
“The club is desperately saddened to learn of the untimely death of former Primavera player, Joseph Bouasse Perfection,” Roma wrote on Twitter. “The thoughts of everyone at AS Roma are with all those closest to him.”
Antonio Rüdiger, a fellow footballer also shared his condolences by sharing a picture of the deceased player via a Twitter post.
