Graeme Souness has insisted on justifying his recent criticism of Paul Pogba, as the Manchester United midfielder is still not working hard enough.
“I get hammered for it,” he told. “I am not going to say I am a fan of him, I am a fan of his talent.
“Midfield is the only position on the pitch where someone wants to do the exact same job you’re doing. I am a fan of his ability. But I want him to work harder.”
Liverpool legend Souness has been the harshest critic of the Frenchman in recent times, which led to an exchange of words between the two men in April.
United’s 3-0 win over Sheff Utd on Wednesday moved them back to Chelsea, who play their game in hand against Manchester City on Thursday, within two points of fourth place.
And Pogba has hit the ground running with impressive displays against Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United since returning from a long-term foot injury.
However, Souness feels that if he is to fulfill his potential at Old Trafford, the 27-year-old can offer still more.
