Kieran Trippier was one of last season’s stranger signings, moving from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid, but it ended up being one of the biggest success stories.
Trippier took the opportunity to explain how happy he was with his new team. Mundo Deportivo has quotes from the England international to that effect.
“If I’d known how happy I was going to be an I would have come to Atletico earlier,” the right-back commented. “La Liga is totally different to the Premier League, I had to improve my defending and that was something I freely admitted last season.”
Indeed, there is definitely no better way to do that than playing for Madrid’s Diego Simeone and Mono Burgos. Another season under their tutelage and Trippier can really continue to develop into one of the best-attacking right-backs in the world.
Not many English players have made the switch to La Liga, but Trippier was willing to risk it last summer. He was a big success with fans and coaching staff and enjoyed some of his career’s best football before European football was interrupted by the coronavirus crisis.
Seeing the all-round satisfaction with the player’s time at Atletico, he is sure to stay there, even though the transfer window is almost here again.
