Weston McKennie, young midfielder at Schalke, has confirmed that he wants to join at a club that regularly fights for place in Europe. He confesses that such a goal is part of a larger vision to compete one day in the Premier League.
McKennie has gone from strength to strength after making his breakthrough three years ago. Snapped off the FC Dallas academy system in 2016, McKennie soon became a combative force in Schalke’s engine room.
It took the 21-year-old just one season to move through the first team on the Bundesliga side.
Now he has announced his dream that one day his career journey will see him play his trade in the top tier in England.
“The next target for me is England. Playing in the Premier League has always been my vision, “the 19-time-capped US international said in an exclusive interview with Goal and DAZN. “I want to enter the team in Europe competing for a place – the Champions League or the Europe League. I am happy at Schalke for now, because I can play.”
