According to information from SPORT BILD, the knee injury of Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria is more serious than initially assumed. Consequently, he is probably about to retire, in a surprising development.
Zakaria had played himself in the league game in 7th March and injured his knee against BVB after a serious collision with keeper Yann Sommer. After the crash he was already missing in the victory against Cologne.
After 2 weeks Zakaria said that he recovered, but it turned out in another way. According to a club spokesman, the Swiss has not been participating in the current training for about a week, is undergoing continuous investigation.
If the league continues with games in May, Borussia will definitely have to play without its star-probably until the end of the season. The Bundesliga does not seem to be starting again that soon after the coronavirus break, but the tournament’s schedule will perhaps not change the fact of Zakaria’s absence.
