Former goalkeeper of Juventus Stefano Tacconi has played down coronavirus severity, calling it ‘just the flu.’
More than 30,000 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in Italy since the virus became a global pandemic in March, but Tacconi maintains it is not much worse than the common cold.
“The coronavirus is just the flu for me,” he told for Sportiva radio. “When they tell me in a conference that thousands of deaths have happened, tell me which ones were of coronavirus. You cannot tar all of them with the same brush.”
He has hopes of playing again. “I’d like to start playing again, even in front of fans”, said former Italy international, on his 62nd birthday.
