Cricket News: In the final match in Kerala against the Lankan Lions, Virat Kohli hit his 46th ODI century.
Former Indian cricketer and 1983 World Cup champion Sunil Gavaskar praised flashy batter Virat Kohli fervently for his recent outstanding performances. The former captain of India is currently enjoying a fantastic run with the bat after scoring an unbeaten 166 runs in Kerala’s decisive 317-run victory over Sri Lanka in the final ODI.
It’s interesting to note that the batsman also scored his 46th century in ODIs, putting him only four tonnes behind Indian superstar Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 hundred to his credit. Sunil Gavaskar stated that if Kohli plays until age 40, he might very easily earn another 26 hundred with this.
“If he continues to play, in 5 or 6 years, he will reach 100. There is no question in my mind. His annual average is around 600. In the final ODI in Kerala, the Men in Blue defeated the Islanders 3-0, bowling them out for just 73 runs while attempting to chase down 390 runs.
The three-match ODI series between Team India and New Zealand is set to begin on Wednesday, January 18, and Kohli will look to maintain his consistency.
