A transfer from Rasmus Højlund to Man United seems to be a difficult story for this summer. Erik ten Hag likes to see the attacker come, but Atalanta Bergamo does not like the English plan to involve United players in a deal. According to The Athletic, Donny van de Beek, among others, was a candidate to be brought in.
Atalanta does not accept Van de Beek as a medium of exchange
Van de Beek (26) does not have to count on a breakthrough at Manchester United and may leave this summer. The same applies to Brazilian Fred (30), another midfielder with whom Ten Hag has no plans. The two players were not in the selection for Manchester United’s friendly match against Leeds United on Wednesday in Oslo, Norway (2-0 win).
Ten Hag hopes to welcome a new top striker this summer and twenty-year-old Højlund is at the top of the wish list. However, Atalanta Bergamo does not want to sell the Danish super talent, unless the absolute top prize is on the table. The problem is that Manchester United don’t have the money for that. Ten Hag has reportedly received a modest transfer budget of around 117 million euros and Mason Mount was already bought from Chelsea for 65 million euros.
There must also be a new keeper (all arrows are aimed at André Onana for that) and then not many millions will remain. In an attempt to bring in Højlund, it was proposed to Atalanta to let Van de Beek or Fred go to Italy, for example, so that the transfer fee could be lowered. However, Atalanta is not interested in that and has let Højlund know that it will only let Højlund go for cash only.
Atalanta bought Højlund a year ago from the Austrian Sturm Graz, who had picked up the attacker from FC Copenhagen a few months earlier. Sturm Graz bought Højlund in January 2022 for just under two million euros and sold it six months later for more than seventeen million euros.
As a player of Atalanta, Højlund made his debut in the Danish team, for which he has scored six times in six international matches so far, and scored sixteen goals in 42 matches with Atalanta. His contract in the north of Italy will run for another four years.
Harroui completes transfer within Italy
Abdou Harroui makes a transfer in Italy. He leaves Sassuolo for newly promoted Frosinone.
Harroui (25) moved from Sparta Rotterdam to Sassuolo for several million euros in the summer of 2021, where he was not always a basic player. Nevertheless, the midfielder from Leiden came to 45 matches in Serie A. Harroui, however, aims for more and has made a transfer with a view to a basic place. The transfer was made official on Thursday evening.
The transfer would involve a transfer fee of around 2.5 million euros. Harroui signs with Frosinone for three seasons. Frosinone is the champion of Serie B and will therefore also play at the highest level in Italy next season.
