Genesis Scottish Open: Rory McIlroy leads the Genesis Scottish Open after a third-round 67, one shot clear of Tom Kim on 13 under and two shots ahead of England’s Tommy Fleetwood.
McIlroy has been in good spirits all week at the Renaissance Club, adding a 66 to his opening 64 on Friday, marking the seventh occasion in his PGA Tour career – the event is co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour – that McIlroy has opened a tournament with two rounds of 66 or higher.

McIlroy remained the man to catch at The Renaissance Club after a third round of 67, with South Korea’s Tom Kim a shot behind and Tommy Fleetwood and Brian Harman another stroke behind.
Scottie Scheffler, the world number one, and former Open champion Shane Lowry are tied for sixth on 10 under after tee times were brought forward several hours on Sunday due to wind gusts of up to 40mph.
After recording eight birdies and one bogey in the third round, Fleetwood moved up to a tie for third with Brian Harman (67).
Eric Cole scored a 64 on Saturday, tying him with Ireland’s Lowry (65), first-round leader Ben An (69), Scheffler (67), and JT Poston (65), for fifth place at 10-under.
McIlroy admits that his first Scottish triumph has been “long overdue.”
McIlroy said after Saturday’s round that his first victory in Scotland had been a long time coming as he took a slim lead into the final day of the £7m Genesis Scottish Open.
McIlroy threatened to extend his lead when he completed his opening ten holes in four under, but he finished the following eight in one over, leaving the top 17 men separated by just five strokes.
“I felt like I played really good golf for the first 11 holes and then made that first bogey on 12, and it was a little scrappy coming in,” McIlroy said.
