IND vs SA 2022: In line with expectations, Team India has selected a solid lineup for the ODI series against South Africa that includes players who are not among the 15 who will compete in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Members of the team’s T20 World Cup squad are anticipated to fly out to Perth on October 5 to start getting ready. Once again, Shikhar Dhawan will captain a youthful, strong ODI team against the Proteas. Many of these young people were present for their 3-0 victories over Zimbabwe and the West Indies.
Mukesh Kumar and Rajat Patidar, who received their first call-ups, were thrilled to hear the team announcement. Both for the A team and in domestic cricket, the tandem has displayed some incredible play.
Mukesh is now competing in the Irani Trophy, and thanks to his outstanding performance with the red ball, he has gained a spot in the ODI team. Patidar too had a fantastic year. Prior to helping Madhya Pradesh win their first Ranji Trophy championship and subsequently shining for India A, he scored his first century in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rahul Tripathi and Shahbaz Ahmed, who were already named in the squads for tours, have also been included in the squad for the forthcoming series. They haven’t played yet, but they’re hoping to get an opportunity against South Africa.
Prithvi Shaw was once again left out of India’s ODI team
Prithvi Shaw is another player who has been in excellent form and has contributed to the A team. He was, however, once again passed over by the selection committee for the series against South Africa.
In the IPL and domestic cricket over the past few years, Shaw has proven his talent. The cricketing community will undoubtedly wonder why he wasn’t chosen for even a backup national team, though.
In the interim, Shreyas Iyer has been named Dhawan’s assistant. The lineup also includes reserves Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar from the T20 World Cup squad.
