IND vs SA: Rain may interfere with the second T20I of the three-match series between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati later on Sunday. Accuweather predicts that Guwahati will likely witness some strong thunderstorms and three hours of rain. The Barsapara Stadium has sold out of tickets for the game, but the spectators will probably be disappointed because there’s a chance the game won’t take place. Rain also forced the cancellation of the stadium’s most recent international game.
In the meantime, the organisers claimed they had made all necessary preparations to minimise time loss in the case of rain.
Two “very lightweight” pitch covers have been sent to Assam by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) from the US. It currently has access to about 20 covers.
According to ACA secretary Devajit Saikia, “These imported covers ensure that water or moisture does not penetrate into the pitch.”
An India-Sri Lanka T20 match that was scheduled to take place at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on January 5, 2020, was postponed owing to heavy rain.
Rain recently caused a match between India and Nagpur to be cut short. India defeated Australia in a game with eight overs for each team.
India leads the series 1-0 going into the game and will want to win it all in Guwahati.
On Tuesday, Indore will host the third and final game of the series.
