India leads the series 1-0 going into the T20I in Guwahati
In the first of three T20 International matches against South Africa at the Greenfield International Stadium, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team got off to an outstanding start. The hosts decided to bowl first, and courtesy of Chahar and Arshdeep’s spectacular swing and seam movement, the Proteas were reduced to 9/5.
In the second over of the innings, the latter took three wickets, thus ending South Africa’s aspirations. Keshav Maharaj’s 41-point performance spared them some embarrassment, as the visitors could only muster 106/8.
In response, the Men in Blue scored just 17/1 after six overs, their lowest powerplay total in T20Is. Prior to Suryakumar Yadav’s counterattack, KL Rahul originally bided his time. The two batsmen each produced a different half-century, complementing one another to help the hosts win by eight wickets.
