KKR Head Coach: Chandrakant Pandit, the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, believes that the new impact player rule will be difficult for the team before the upcoming Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL). The franchise coach, on the other hand, said that his team is ready for a tricky substitute rule.
For its 16th edition, which begins on March 31, IPL has introduced a few new rules. The Impact Player rule, which allows a team to substitute for one player during a live game, is one of the new innovations. This rule allows teams to name up to five substitutes, and one of them can be used as an impact player if the team needs one.
It will be intriguing to perceive how to group the executives utilising this new rule to its advantage. Additionally, Chandrakant disclosed that the Knight Riders have already identified their impact player, but that it will be contingent on the opposition and the circumstances.
“Obviously, we’ve been working on it (identified impact player?). It’s a difficult rule. It holds a lot of interest. Essentially, for the mentors and skippers, it’s going to be intriguing. We have been considering that and discussing the various options with our support staff. With regard to the field, we need to take a choice. In any case, indeed, we are ready for it. We’re considering it from every angle. That specific day will choose and the resistance will choose our effect player,” Chandrakant said while talking in a public interview on March 28.
We are extremely sure about Nitish Rana’s capacities: Chandrakant Pandit
The new captain of KKR replaces Shreyas Iyer, who has been out with an injury. Rana has been with the franchise for five years and has consistently performed well. However, due to his lack of IPL team captain experience, he will be scrutinized by the media. However, Rana has been endorsed by Chandrakant as capable of taking on additional responsibilities.
“Giving responsibility is more important than selecting the captain, and we thought he was very capable of doing so. He has been with KKR for a long time, and he met all of the requirements. We have a lot of faith in his capabilities. The coach and other staff members decided to give the captaincy to Nitish Rana because everyone at the international level is unique in their own way. And that has been well received by everyone,” Chandrakant continued.
Kolkata Knight Riders will travel to Mohali’s IS Bindra Arena to confront Punjab Rulers in their opening IPL 2023 match on April 1 and will have Illustrious Challengers Bangalore at Eden Nurseries in their most memorable home game on April 6.
