Live Cricket News: On the eve of their match against England in Antigua, India’s U19 World Cup final star Ravi Kumar revealed former India captain Virat Kohli’s humorous response to one of his questions during an interactive session the young lads had with the 2008 U19 World Cup-winning skipper.
Speaking to Indian Express, Ravi revealed that he had asked Kohli, “What is his weakness?” And the veteran Indian batsman laughed it off saying, “Kyun abhi se out karne ki training kar raha hai kya (Are are already planning to get me out now)?”
On Saturday, Kumar was instrumental in India’s four-wicket victory at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, where he took four wickets for 34 runs in nine overs. Raj Bawa, on the other hand, was India’s best bowler, with a fantastic five-wicket haul. He had completed the task with a score of 5/31. India bowled England out for 189 runs, with James Rew top-scoring with a 116-ball 95. Kaushal Tambe took the other wicket as India bowled England out for just 189 runs.
In response to a goal of 190, India lost starter Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the second ball, but Shaik Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu helped India chase down the target with half-centuries of their own, and with the support of Bawa’s 54-ball 35, India went past the mark with 14 balls remaining.
India won the U19 World Cup for the sixth time, following victories in 2000, 2008, 2016, and 2018.
Ravi finished the event with 10 wickets at an average of 13.20 and a strike rate of 21.6, second-most by an Indian in this edition after Vicky Ostwal’s 12 dismissals.
It’s a little too exciting for my liking, but I’m pleased with the outcome. I believe we gained a lot of knowledge from this. We were also wanting to bat. There was a smidgeon of moisture present. [Dhull] was an excellent leader. He’s got a great head on his shoulders. I think it’s a fantastic competition for all teams to be able to play on this platform at such a young age. After India’s triumph, head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar said, “It’s a terrific platform to exhibit potential and for academies around the world.”
