Paralympic Games: Pramod Bhagat, a Paralympic gold medallist who has been on record admiring his idol Sachin Tendulkar, received a present from the cricketing star. While Pramod ascribed his composure on the badminton court to Tendulkar’s behaviour, the two met and spent time together earlier this month.
Bhagat, the incumbent world champion, won India’s first Paralympic gold in badminton in Tokyo recently with a straight-game victory over Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell in the SL3 class final.
Sachin Tendulkar has now presented Bhagat with the jersey he wore in his historic 200th Test match. Tendulkar’s international career spanned over two decades, and the match against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was also his final Test match. On getting the present, Pramod even wrote a touching letter. He described how his pulse was pumping as he opened the gift before disclosing how the act “stole his heart.”
“My adrenaline was pumping while opening this gift from my idol @sachin rt, he stole my heart yet again by gifting me Jersey worn by him in his 200th Test match for India Flag of India, words are falling short. Thank you Sir Sachin Tendulkar for this wonderful gift,” he captioned a photo of himself wearing the autographed jersey.

Bhagat has previously described his meeting with Sachin as a childhood fantasy realised. He stated that Tendulkar’s remarks to him will stay with him for the rest of his life and will continue to encourage him. He was so ecstatic to meet his inspiration that he predicted he would be awake all night. He used social media to vent his frustrations.
“THE DREAM OF A CHILDHOOD COMES TRUE! I can’t believe how happy I am now as a youngster because of Sir @sachin rt’s motivation. The words you spoke to me today will live with me forever and inspire me for the rest of my life. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Tonight will be a sleepless night for me “He’d made a tweet about it.
The 33-year-old shuttler was diagnosed with polio when he was four years old, but he showed incredible mental toughness and determination to come back from an eight-point deficit in the second game of the 2020 Paralympic final to defeat his opponent.
