Darts News: James Wade, the world’s number five darts player, is recovering in hospital after becoming ill during a European tournament on Sunday evening.
Wade was forced to retire before his semi-final in Leverkusen after becoming “very sick” during the event and was transported to the hospital after receiving advice from a German paramedic team.
He will remain in the hospital for further monitoring and treatment after having a racing heart, high blood pressure, nausea, and dizziness. He is now not fit enough to fly home.

Samantha, who is at home with their infant, expressed her gratitude for the treatment offered by the German hospital.
She said: “It was quite concerning on Sunday night and into Monday, and it’s awful to think of James being alone when he’s been so sick.
“We obviously want him home as soon as possible, but the medical team has been wonderful with James Wade, and he is grateful for their kindness and care. We’re following their recommendations regarding when he can return home safely.
“James is desperate to make sure he doesn’t let anyone down and is already talking about returning to competitive action for the people that have bought tickets.
