Former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom is in hospital after being stabbed and robbed during a street attack at Liverpool on Saturday.
Wisdom came through the academy at Liverpool and made 14 appearances for their first team.
After a string of loan spells in clubs including West Brom, Norwich and Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg he signed for Derby in 2017.
Now a defender at Derby County, Wisdom won’t be available Wednesday night at Deepdale for Derby’s Championship match against Preston North End.
The 27-year-old is in a stable condition and is expected to make a complete recovery. In fact, two days hence, he will hopefully be able to leave the hospital.
Derby issued a statement that confirmed the attack: “Andre Wisdom was the victim of an unprovoked robbery and assault. He suffered injuries and he was taken to hospital. The club will concentrate on providing support to Andre and his family.
They even tweeted a get-well-soon message via their official Derby County account.
