Chelsea has ended up with AS Monaco’s Benoît Badiashile in its search for reinforcement. According to The Athletic, there is a good chance that the 21-year-old Frenchman will come over from AS Monaco in January.
The Blues would like to add a left-footed centre-back to their roster. Last summer, a personal agreement was reached with Josko Gvardiol, but it was not possible to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig on the transfer fee for the twenty-year-old Croatian. After his impressive World Cup performances, the asking price has only increased further.
Chelsea also had other options in mind with Evan N’Dika (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Piero Hincapie (Bayer Leverkusen), but Badiashile is now the top candidate. The 1 metre 94 tall French international should cost 35 million euros. He can already become the fourth defensive reinforcement of this season for the London club. A lot of money was spent in the summer for the arrival of Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Chelsea cannot yet live up to expectations this season. The top club is only eighth. The first league match after the World Cup break is scheduled for the Potter team on Tuesday. AFC Bournemouth will then visit Stamford Bridge.
Bayern Munich to bring back Alexander Nübel
In other news related to Monaco, Bayern Munich are facing difficulties negotiating with the Ligue 1 club. Alexander Nübel is the intended replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer. Bayern Munich apparently has to pay a lot to get the rented goalkeeper back.
After the skiing accident of Neuer, who expressed his Christmas wish on crutches, Bayern started looking for a goalkeeper. Various options were reviewed. Nübel eventually emerged as the most suitable candidate.
Nübel is also no stranger to the Bavarian club. In fact, the 26-year-old goalkeeper is still under contract with Bayern Munich. However, due to a lack of prospects in Bavaria, he has been loaned out to AS Monaco this season.
Bayern has contacted the former Ligue1 champions, who are apparently taking a hard line. Instead of the previously suggested two million euros, the Ligue 1 club wants ten million euros for the early termination of the lease, according to Bavarian media.
