Forward Olivier Giroud tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, according to his new, Italian, Serie A club AC Milan.
Giroud played his debut game for the Rossoneri wherein he scored twice in Milan’s 4-1 thrashing of Cagliari on Sunday. This was a Serie A game, but Giroud has had to halt his journey further into the top-flight’s 2021-22 season.
After a positive COVID-19 test, the 34-year-old striker has placed himself in isolation, for about two weeks.

AC Milan have regretfully announced that one of their newest signings in this past summer transfer window has contracted COVID-19.
Olivier Giroud has coronavirus. Giroud joined Milan in a reported €2 million (£1.7m) deal from Chelsea in July.
“AC Milan announces that Olivier Giroud tested positive for a molecular test carried out at home,” the Rossoneri said in a statement.
“The local health authorities were immediately informed. The player is fine but must remain in fiduciary isolation.
“It should be noted that Olivier has not had contact with the rest of the team since the championship game against Cagliari.”
