According to the report, Messi may have sustained the original problem while playing for PSG against Venezuela earlier this month.
And so, it may be a more serious injury than we first anticipated because it has flared up since weeks.
Furthermore, this bruising has put the attacker at risk of more serious injuries that could keep him out for months.
In light of all this, Messi will undergo more tests on the issue this week.
But already, he’s a major doubt for next week’s Champions League match against Manchester City at the Parc des Princes.
Since his emotional departure from Camp Nou, the former Barcelona man has yet to find his feet in Paris.
