France Football hasthat it will not allocate the Ballon d’Or 2020.
France Football established the award in 1956 and its chief editor, Pascal Ferré, announced that the 2020 edition would not be assigned.
“The Ballon d’Or won’t be awarded for the first time in its history, which began in 1965, by 2020,” he explained through the French outlet. “For lack of adequate fair conditions.”
“At the end of the year the winners of the last edition will not have any successors. Because there will be no 2020 edition of the Ballon d’Or,” he continued.
Lionel Messi won the 2019 edition, his sixth so far, and will retain the title for another twelve months.
Juventus magic amulet Cristiano Ronaldo has won the prestigious award five times in his career. This term, though, the Portuguese star fights for the Capocannoniere title in Italy with Ciro Immobile.
