Manchester United and its bitter rivals Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are in a close competition to secure the signing of Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly. As of now, the scales may be tipping in favour of the United.
The center-back has been closely linked to the move to Old Trafford in the last few months, with recent reports suggesting that the United has been given the green light to the Senegal international for a £74 m move.
The defender has scored 10 goals in 233 Italian team appearances in all competitions since he arrived from Genk in 2014. He has also made made 15 Series A appearances for Napoli during the injury-hit 2019-20 campaign.
With such a track record, Gunnar Solskjaer’s understandably faces stiff competition for the 28-year-old’s signature. According to La Repubblica’s reports, Man City and PSG are all too invested in the hunt to sign Koulibaly to their respective clubs.
In any case, Napoli is said to have resigned to losing Koulibaly when the transfer window reopens.
