Barcelona captain Lionel Messi said that there’s nothing more to say after there were call for ‘a lot of changes’ at Camp Nou last week.
Speaking after the loss at Osasuna last Thursday, Messi indicated that this season, Barça has become a ‘very abnormal team that lets its head drop too easily.’
The six-time winner of the Ballon d’Or told: “Clearly there is scope for change and we need to start talking about the Champions League. We just want to win this one. Yet we need to be self-critical, a lot of progress and a lot of change. I hope we get it all done in time.”
In the aftermath of Real Madrid’s La Liga title win, a series of internal discussions followed at Barcelona.
Now that this has been aired, Messi insists that the only thing that needs to happen now is that the requisite adjustments finally take place ahead of next month’s restart of the Champions League.
Barça rejuvenated themselves, albeit too little too late, with a 5-0 win against Alaves in the final game of the league campaign.
Barça is tied 1-1 with Napoli after a delicately balanced last 16 game.
Now Messi is confident that all has been said that needed to be said.
“We have said what we needed to say. We have spoken internally and been self-critical. There is nothing more to say, but to show the change,” he stated.
