Lionel Messi went through another game without scoring. As Barcelona lost more points at Celta Vigo on Saturday, Balaidos’ game was the third match in a row in which Messi struggled to score.
Messi hasn’t slipped below the 40-goal mark in the last 10 years. Instead, his tally of 38 in the first year of Pep Guardiola also seems out of reach now.
This despite seven games to play in LaLiga Santander and at least one more in the Champions League.
Even in 2013/14, in what was his worst season in recent memory, Messi managed to hit 41 goals with Tata Martino in charge at the Camp Nou.
But that number is also some way from the 26 he’s on now.
Moreover, he has remained goalless in ten of the 16 games, with Barcelona under the charge of Quique Setien.
The concern is rising with each passing match for the No.10, who has struggled to add to his total as he heads towards his 800th mark say.
