MLS has announced the suspension of FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez, following alleged domestic abuse incidents.
“FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez has been suspended by Major League Soccer after a report to the Frisco Police Department about domestic abuse incidents.” the league said in a. “MLS conducts an independent investigation into the incident, and will remain in close communication throughout the process with FC Dallas, local law enforcement, and the MLS Players Association.
“The player proactively submitted to and is presently conducting an examination by doctors of Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health (SABH). Till the examination is completed, Gonzalez will not be able to engage in any team operation, he must be approved for inclusion by doctors in the SABH system, and Major League Soccer must conclude its examination.”
FC Dallas issued aof its own, saying the team would operate cooperatively with MLS while the procedure plays out:
“FC Dallas takes these matters incredibly seriously and fully supports the swift action of the league to suspend the player while an investigation is taking place. We continue to work closely in this regard with Major League Soccer.”
“MLS will have no further comment on this matter until the League’s investigation is concluded,” the statement by MLS said. FC’s statement followed suit by saying they would wait till the end of the MLS investigation before taking action:
“FC Dallas does not provide any more details at this point, because there is an ongoing investigation.”
